Recommended Reading: Easy Riders, Raging Bulls

Easy Riders, Raging Bulls by Peter Biskind is one of my favorite kinds of nonfiction. It’s a page-turning narrative about fascinating and talented people. And it features the story behind the creation of some of the most revered – and most would agree, best – movies in history.

This book is about Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Dennis Hopper, George Lucas and many other icons of filmmaking in the 1960s and 70s and though it covers a period in history that will never be repeated, the overriding lesson about what it takes to get a movie in the can, and then into the theater, is certainly still applicable to today.

This book is a must-read for aspiring directors and producers and a should-read for everyone else aspiring to be a part of the creative process in Hollywood.
